DFI TECHNOLOGY FOR CSP INDUSTRY RECEIVES INDEPENDENT THIRD-PARTY VALIDATION
Independent testing demonstrates excellent optical performance and specularity in Nanoshield Solar™-coated CSP mirrors, supporting future adoption across the concentrated solar power industry.
Irvine, California — May 28, 2026 — Diamon-Fusion International (DFI), a global leader in advanced glass surface protection technologies and patented coating systems, has announced encouraging results from an independent technical reflectance report evaluating Nanoshield Solar™, a specialized coating technology powered by DFI and developed in collaboration with Nanoveu Limited for concentrated solar power (CSP) mirror applications.
Independent Testing Confirms Optical Performance of Nanoshield™ CSP Mirrors
The report, conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), evaluated initial hemispherical and specular reflectance measurements on CSP mirror samples treated with Nanoshield Solar™ using multiple coating processes, including DFI’s patented FuseCube™ platform. The study concluded that all coated mirror samples demonstrated “excellent solar weighted reflectance and specularity,” showing no losses compared to the uncoated baseline sample. Some coating processes even show slight increases in solar weighted reflectance compared to uncoated mirrors.
FuseCube™ Process Demonstrates Strong Reflectance Results
According to the report, all coated mirror samples in this measurement campaign exhibit excellent solar-weighted reflectance and specularity. At the same time, the FuseCube coating process “increases solar weighted reflectance slightly by up to 0.5 percentage points.
The tests were conducted using DFI’s automated FuseCube process on second-surface glass mirrors. The report further noted that the objective of the evaluation was to confirm that the NanoShield™ coating does not adversely affect mirror reflectance performance and to establish baseline optical data ahead of future accelerated weathering testing.
Industry Leaders Highlight Potential for CSP Applications
“The CSP market represents one of the most exciting long-term opportunities for advanced glass coating technologies capable of enhancing optical performance while potentially reducing operational maintenance challenges in harsh environments,” said Guillermo Seta, Vice President of Global Business Development for DFI. “These independent findings by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies are extremely encouraging because they validate that our patented Diamon-Fusion enhanced chemistry and FuseCube coating processes, specially formulated for the solar energy market, can preserve — and in some cases even improve — the critical optical characteristics required for CSP mirror applications. We believe NanoShield™ Solar has the potential to add measurable long-term value for CSP operators and solar mirror manufacturers globally.”
Comments in the report on the technical performance observed during the testing phase indicated that “The coated samples demonstrated excellent solar weighted reflectance and specularity throughout this initial measurement campaign. The results indicate that the Nanoshield Solar coating processes evaluated did not negatively impact optical performance, which is an important consideration for CST reflector applications.”

The CSP sector continues to gain strategic relevance globally, as countries seek scalable renewable energy solutions that deliver utility-scale thermal energy storage and dispatchable clean power generation. Maintaining high optical reflectance while minimizing soiling and environmental degradation remains a key operational priority for CSP infrastructure owners and mirror manufacturers.
Nanoshield Solar™ Developed for Real-World Solar Industry Challenges
“Nanoshield Solar was developed under a global exclusive license from DFI for the CSP market specifically to address real-world operational challenges faced by the solar industry,” said Mory Houshmand, Head of Solar at Nanoveu Limited. “The strong optical performance demonstrated in this independent report reinforces our belief that Nanoshield Solar can provide meaningful value to the CSP market by supporting long-term mirror efficiency, durability, and operational sustainability.”
DFI’s patented Diamon-Fusion® technology is already used globally in the architectural, transportation, hospitality, marine, and specialty glass industries for its protective, hydrophobic, and surface-enhancing properties. Through its patented FuseCube™ automated coating systems, DFI offers scalable, highly efficient coating technologies for industrial glass manufacturing environments.
Establishing a Baseline for Future CSP Weathering Evaluations
The report also establishes an important baseline for future evaluations of environmental durability and accelerated weathering relevant to CSP field deployment.
