DFI Donates Protective Glass Coating Services to Orange County School of Arts

Irvine, CA, April 20, 2016 – In an effort to help sustain the beauty of the dramatic glass entrance hall of their newly built Dance Center, while reducing maintenance requirements, the Orange County School of Arts (OCSA) has teamed up with Diamon-Fusion International (DFI), to protect the building’s front entryway with Diamon-Fusion® protective glass coating. The Dance, Music, and Science Centers is part of a 60,000 square-foot Instructional Center, which comes with an inspiring backstory. The school was able to break ground on this $16.2 million structure, through a series of charitable donations from supporters, whose contributions amounted to $13.6 million.

The ambitious capital undertaking was led by Campaign Co-Chairs Marybelle and S. Paul Musco, Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, and OCSA alumnus Matthew Morrison, as well as Campaign Cabinet Co-Chairs Doug Garn, and Jerry Mandel, Ph.D. Amongst them were lead supporters: Julia and George Argyros, Deborah and Larry Bridges, Missy and Chris Callero (The Callero Family Foundation), Kathy and Gary Conrad, Sally and Dan Fleet (Reuben H. Fleet Foundation), Dr. Martha and James Newkirk, Maureen and Mike Mekjian, Julie and Doug Garn, Cynthia and Martin Howard (Howard CDM), Hal and Jeanette Segerstrom Family, as well as Marybelle and S. Paul Musco. Their benevolent efforts have literally opened up new doors for bright and talented students, looking to nurture their educational development.

OCSA’s newly built Instructional Center will host a myriad of branches, including: The Arygros Science Center, The Hal & Jeanette Segerstrom Family Music Center, and The Marybelle Musco Dance Center. And that’s just the beginning. Within these major centers are seven state-of-the-art science labs, 14 dance studios, instrumental music and choir rehearsal facilities, 16 music practice rooms, dressing rooms and storage – all capped by the dramatic glass entrance.

“On behalf of the OCSA community, I am grateful to the team at DFI for helping protect the beauty of our new Dance, Music, and Science Centers for years to come.” – Ralph S. Opacic, Ed.D., President & Executive Director

The project itself was initiated by Diamon-Fusion International COO, Russell Slaybaugh, who truly believes that buildings like the one at OCSA make a statement about the owners, supporters, and tenants, and as such need to always look their best. DFI’s onsite services team helps accomplish this by thoroughly cleaning and restoring glass, where necessary, and then applying Diamon-Fusion® protective coating. This patented coating reduces the need for future maintenance, while simultaneously reducing the associated cost and water consumption thereof. With the increasing use of complex geometries in all variety of architectural design the importance of protecting window glass façades and reducing the maintenance requirements becomes more pertinent as many times those surfaces can be almost impossible to reach.

“We are thrilled to donate our time and services to the Orange County School of Arts and all those who helped make it happen. I am confident DFI’s, low-maintenance, protective coating will help preserve the beauty and longevity of the Dance, Music and Science Centers entrance glazing for years to come.” – Carl Christ, VP of Technical Services and Business Development, Diamon-Fusion International
