DFI PARTNERS WITH AL ABBAR GROUP TO PROTECT THE WORLD’S LARGEST LEED-CERTIFIED BUILDING IN DUBAI
Dubai, UAE — Diamon-Fusion International, Inc. (DFI) is proud to announce a significant global milestone: the application of Diamon-Fusion® nanocoating to the newly built Al Shera’a Building, the headquarters of Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA). Officially recognized as “The Tallest, Largest and Smartest Net Positive Governmental Building In the World!”, this historic project sets new benchmarks in sustainability, energy efficiency, and architectural performance.
As part of the building’s advanced façade strategy, over 40,000 m² (430,000 ft²) of curtain wall glass was factory-treated with Diamon-Fusion® — a patented “chemically cross-linked, branched and capped” nanocoating engineered to create a robust barrier against corrosion while significantly reducing ongoing maintenance.
A Sustainability Breakthrough Using Diamon-Fusion®
By integrating Diamon-Fusion® directly into the façade system, the project achieved multiple long-term advantages, including:
- Enhanced sustainability through corrosion protection
- Low-maintenance, E2C (easy-to-clean) glass performance
- Up to 20% increased surface brilliance
- Reduced water consumption tied to façade cleaning
- Contribution to LEED certification points
The result helped support the building’s attainment of its prestigious LEED Platinum Certification, reinforcing DEWA’s global leadership in sustainable mega-infrastructure.
A Strategic Partnership with Al Abbar Group
DFI proudly partnered with Al Abbar Group — one of the world’s foremost façade engineering and curtain wall specialists — to bring this vision to life. With more than five decades of experience and manufacturing hubs spanning the Middle East, South & East Asia, North America, and Europe, Al Abbar Group served as the glass supplier and façade solutions provider for this landmark project.
All curtain-wall glass was specified with Diamon-Fusion® for added sustainability and tested for full compatibility with Saint-Gobain Sekurit’s SGG COOL-LITE XTREME 60/28 II glass, which has the highest selectivity ratio (visible light transmission to solar heat gain) in the SGG range. This synergy ensured unparalleled energy performance and clarity.
Advanced Compatibility Through Global Collaboration
DFI also extends its gratitude to the Merint Group Technical Team for their role in ensuring complete compatibility with Saint-Gobain Sekurit’s SGG Triple-Silver Coated Thermal Glass, a critical component of the project’s high-efficiency envelope.
A Massive High-Performance Structure with a Sustainable Vision
With a built-up area of approximately 200,000 m² (2.15 million ft²), the Al Shera’a Building is not only monumental in scale — it is designed with cutting-edge connectivity and urban sustainability in mind. The structure will be linked to the Al Jadaf Metro Station via an elevated bridge, promoting public transportation use and helping reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
DFI Leadership Reflects on the Milestone
Guillermo Seta, Vice President of Global Business Development at DFI, shared:
“Being part of the world’s largest net-zero LEED-certified building is something very special that validates our patented technology as a barrier to glass corrosion, protecting the integrity of the specified glass while reducing maintenance costs. This project represents the epitome of our DNA—partnering with so many project players through our committed DFI partners and ambassadors to make it a success.”
Celebrating the Team Behind the Achievement
DFI extends sincere appreciation to its DFI ambassadors, Marco Palazzolo and Alessandro Bianchi at Alma Globe, DFI GCC Partner and DFI Partner Massimiliano Langs of Technology & Communication Srl in Milan, Italy, whose expertise and dedication ensured the flawless integration of Diamon-Fusion® at an unprecedented scale.
Setting a New Standard for Sustainable Facade Performance
The successful completion of this project reinforces a growing regional and global trend: pairing world-class architectural design with advanced surface-protection technologies to maximize longevity, sustainability, and long-term value.
As more cities pursue aggressive energy-efficiency and green-building goals, partnerships like the one between DFI and Al Abbar Group underscore the growing importance of integrated glass-performance solutions in the next generation of high-performance buildings.
